My name is Kouya and I’m a 29 year old  who lives with my wife in Japan. On my weekdays I work as a firefighter, and on my days off I always go out to nature to find myself some peace and quiet. I love camping and hiking! My interest in the outdoors started to grow already when I was little boy.

My mother had studied survival education in the Girls Scouts, so she would always bring me with her. And when I went to college I started camping alone and realized that it gave me peace. My favorite thing to do is to chop up some wood and start myself a bonfire!

What's your words to live by/motto?

The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.

If you got the chance to visit any place in the world, where would it be and why?

I really want to visit Canada and Finland. I really want to see the aurora!

If you could eat one dish for the rest of your life, what would it be?

I would pick the traditional dish from Japan called "omurice".
